The Culture Warehouse
Today we were in Sundsvall, primarily to see the Bengt Lindström exhibition. I have always been very impressed by Lindström's work, ever since coming to this part of the world. His huge and colorful pictures are so exciting, and yet always slightly threatening, as you perhaps can see in the extra, Le fugitif. Although painting was his main medium he worked with sculpture, ceramics, and tapestry too. This is one of the tapestry works.
The blip is looking up to the roof of Kulturmagasinet - literally translated, the Culture Warehouse. Four buildings that were originally harbour warehouses have been joined together by a glass roof and by some internal bridges. Together they contain amongst other things the library, a theatre, a cafe, and the art gallery/museum we were visiting. An imaginative project which still impresses me 40 years after it was built.
