Really warm today- it was good to be outside for some of it but then inside large airy buildings! Startedout atHighclere (aka Downton Abbey). I enjoyed it much more then I expected/ stunning gardens as well as easily recognisable rooms, all very well presented.we weren’t there as long as we expected though so went on to Hinton Ampner, another NT property rebuilt in the Georgian style after a fire in the forties. Very homely small (relatively!) country house, again with lovely gardens. Had dinner in a lovely Italian restaurant in Alton
