A souper day
We were expecting a chap to come to talk to us about changing our water heating from gas to electric and also using that system to fuel a heating system at about 9:30am this morning but he didn’t turn up until just after 11am. I filled in the time by catching up with some computer work. By the time we’d talked to him and shown him around the house and talked to him some more it was after midday. I finished off what I was doing and we decided to go out for a bowl of soup to support one of the 18 local cafés and restaurants taking part in the Waitaki Souper Soup Sipper during September. We went to the Badger and Mackerel, which is serving a Pumpkin, Garlic and Apple Soup.
When we set off it was quite still and not too cold. After we left the café the wind had picked up and the temperature had dropped a little. We walked further to the Stihl shop to look at hedge trimmers. We’ve selected one that we’ll pick up tomorrow. By the time we started the return journey the wind was a howling gale (the dreaded Southerly) and we found it very difficult at times to walk into the wind it was so strong. We finally made it home after 9.3kms and sat down with a coffee and a ginger biscuit to warm up and revive ourselves. We both feel a tad knackered after struggling into the wind.
After coffee I waxed the bedside tables. We’ll check in the morning to see if they need another coat of wax. Hopefully they won’t and can go into the bedroom ready to be used.
We saw another electricity box today. It was outside a bank, which would explain the coins included in the design. We’re not sure if they’re butterflies or moths, but they’re very colourful.
