Family Theatre
Matthew is quite the football fan...particularly of his alma mater, the University of Colorado in Boulder and their team, the Buffaloes. Apparently nobody told them there are no buffaloes in North America; they are all bison. Even the much vaunted mascot, Ralphie, brought out on the field before every home game, is a bison, and a female at that. There was a lot of hype in the morning about the evening game which mostly centered around their new coach, Deion Sanders who famously excelled at both football and baseball before retiring and accepting this current post.
We hustled through our family dinner in order to retire to the television room to watch the game. Rarely have we managed to fit this many people into a sort of dual purpose room, basically designed to seat four for television viewing. Generally it is just three...John, Spike and me. Here everybody seems to be quite intent on the game...a serious moment, it would seem. The lighting, designed to illuminate the books and the puzzle table didn't do much for the people sitting beneath it, but it didn't occur to me to turn it off.
We drove over to The Barlowthis morning after coffee. The Barlow is an outdoor market district in Sebastopol featuring several restaurants as well as wine beer, spirits and crafts made by Sonoma County artisans. The shops don't open until 11am, so things were pretty quiet at 11:15 on a Sunday morning when we got there.
Today everyone has gone off to replenish the wine and beer stocks, while I put my leg up and post this brief entry. Normal service should be more or less resumed tomorrow....
