The start of a walking holiday
Over several years it's become a tradition that an old friend from schooldays (who emigrated to the US in the late '70s) organises a UK hike with some friends (including me). This time there's 4 of us altogether. So this afternoon we took a train to Berwick and then a bus to Wooler, where we're spending the night before starting our hike tomorrow.
We had half an hour to kill in Berwick so we just had time to pop down to the riverside and get some photos. Here's my friend enjoying the view under the magnificent Royal Border railway bridge (I had to use my fisheye lens to fit it all in). (Apologies to Berwick-based blipper Carol Dunham - there wasn't time to arrange a blipmeet!)
In the extra is a rather lovely church in Wooler, looking its best in the late afternoon sunshine.
