Comma
Watered a few plants first thing, although we’ve had so much rain I’m not sure it was really necessary.. Whilst doing that I had a brief look at the Morning Glory - I grew plants from seed, those I put in the borders of the garden haven’t done anything, but those I planted in the bean planter have gone mad, it’s a bit of a Jack and the beanstalk plant. Big leaves, clambering over and smothering the three clematis , and tendrils everywhere (I’ve kept pruning the long tendrils.which just keep going). But no flowers, I’ve thought about removing it all soon - except I now notice that flower buds are showing. Better late than never.
And on a leaf, this - a Comma butterfly. So named because of that small mark on the side of the wing. In profile it looks like a really complicated jigsaw piece. It did open its wings when the sun came out briefly, but I like this side view.
