Second-time-around

Photo for handyman

I’m having big problems with my electricity fusing. My handyman has electrician’s qualifications and he spent most of yesterday trying to find the cause of the fusing. I suddenly had an idea about one plug socket so emailed him about it today. (Yesterday we thought the cause was the external sockets which I use to plug in the lawnmower and strimmer - they could have got damp in all the rain we’ve been having. He replaced the whole unit but it didn’t cure the problem).

He’s a bit fed up with moving furniture to get access to things, and so am I because I have to put everything back in place afterwards! He’s just emailed a request for a photo to show him how much stuff he might have to move to get access to the dodgy socket. I haven’t taken any other photos on this bleak, wet and windy day today so I thought I’d use this for my blip! I don’t think anything needs moving here!

The craziest thing happened at 4.30 am today. I was woken by noisy buzzing. I couldn’t work out what it was. I hoped it wasn’t another electrical problem. I tracked it down to my electric toothbrush, which had turned itself on! I turned it off but after 5 minutes or so it had turned itself on again! This time it didn’t respond to the ‘off’ switch. I ended up smothering it with a cloth and putting it outside. I wondered if a faulty toothbrush could catch fire! This morning it was intermittently creaking. It took all day to finally go quiet! So I had a dreary trip to Asda for a replacement toothbrush. Guess what? It won’t charge up! So tomorrow will be another dreary trip to return it!

It hasn’t been a fun day.
