Blue and blowy at Cromarty.
This is Cromarty lighthouse built in 1842 on the North East tip of the Black Isle.It helps to guide boats from the Moray Firth into the Cromarty Firth, automated in 1985 and like Chanonry is controlled from Edinburgh.
Rising up to 13 metres and having 38 steps to the top of the tower.
Part of the building is used by Aberdeen University as part of their field study centres for Biological science. They research how the natural and man made environment influences the population of marine mammals and seabirds.
I had a lovely ride on the bus, about 20 minutes from Fortrose, past the Fairy Glen and through the green country side.
I wandered through the town of Cromarty famous as it gives its name to one of the areas of the British Shipping broadcast.
There are some interesting houses and cottages including Hugh Millers cottage.Hugh was a Scottish Geologist and writer and often search the shores around Cromarty for fossils.
Sunny and warm but blowy near the seafront.Found a sheltered spot near the harbour to sit and eat lunch. Also bought some pottery from the local potter.
