Follow Me

Despite aching feet after yesterday’s exploration of Sorrento, we were up and about early to do the same again this morning. Slightly different though, as this was a walking tour organised for all Jet2 Holidays clients and led by the resort reps. Starting at a bar near the station we were treated to a glass of fruit juice before setting off. Due to the numbers involved, we were split into two groups but, even so, there were almost forty of us trying to negotiate the crowded narrow streets whilst trying not to lose sight of the windmill held aloft by our guide.
We did cover some slightly different ground to what we’d done on our own yesterday, and there was the added bonus of several free alcoholic drinks along the way. On a more spiritual (as opposed to spirits) level, the main cathedral was absolutely breathtaking with stunning marquetry and frescoes as well as an incredibly detailed nativity scene. We were told it was only comparatively recently in this part of Italy that Xmas trees had started to supplant Nativities as the main decoration in homes.
As predicted yesterday, the afternoon was spent just relaxing though, sadly, not by the pool as it was quite cool and windy outside. We did glean some useful information from the reps regarding the places we were hoping to go to later this week. Very refreshingly, they didn’t do a hard sell on their excursions - in fact, we were positively discouraged from one because it didn’t quite cover what we wanted from the trip. Lots of good advice about how to do it independently and we hope to put that advice into practice tomorrow with a trip to Pompeii.
