It’s been a day of beaches. This morning a long sandy beach with incredible high rolling waves, perfect of surfers who were out in the water riding the waves. It looked exhilarating but exhausting. We cycled to this beach along cycle lanes through pine woods, arriving at a beautifully laid out recreation area, with places to lock our cycles and lots of information about the beach and sea.
After lunch we walked along the ramparts to a small sandy bay which forms the town beach. We sat on a bench over looking the bay watching the the sea gradually recede whilst people and dogs played on the sand and in the water, and sand lizards sunbathed on the stone ramparts. Good to have time to just watch the world go by.
Afterwards we explored more of the streets and alleyways of the old town of Saint Martin. It’s fascinating and charming. So much history and so many details in the architecture. I could do a study of the doors alone!
