BRIDGE, WATER FURROW AND FIG LEAVES

The furrow slices through the garden with a downward slope rushing the water round a sharp bend and off the property. Three bridges at different points provide a link to the herb and vegetable garden and to the orchard.
When our grandchildren were young, we had to cover the furrow with all- net until they were old enough to be safe.
The water furrow provides huge entertainment the kids who love to put a large leaf or twig in the water and then chase it accompanied by a barking dog. Honey has warned us with persistent barking on several occasions when a tortoise has fallen into the furrow.
Many is the time when a precious bucket, spade or a shoe falls into the water and one then has to beat the bobbing object and get to the lower bridge before it does, so that you can scoop it up before it disappears under the bridge and round the corner onto the next property. Keeps one fit!
