California Tree Poppy ( Romneya coulteri )

We tried growing this a number of years ago.  No chance.  Kanyl lives about 5 miles away and his grows like fury.  I was surprised to find still a lot of flowers and buds on his when I visited him.

It is a perennial member of the poppy family.  It can grow to a height of 2m (7ft) but his is only about 1.5m  (4ft 6in).  As they like a light well drained soil in full sun they are good for dry parts of a garden.
