Goodbye to Funchal

Our final wander around Funchal before returning home. It’s a beautiful city: small, colourful, friendly. We have drinks at a pavement cafe - coffee for G, fresh orange juice for me. As always, people watching is a joy. A group of musicians play sentimental standards as people walk by, stop to listen, continue putting the world to rights over their coffees, or simply - in the case of locals - just get on with daily life. It’s a pleasant sojourn before our journey home - via a last tour of the island ……
