Skocjan caves

the tourist trail today took us to the amazing Skocjan Caves - stalagmites and tites galore. We don’t usually go for guided tours with crocodiles of people - so it was an exception made reluctantly. But we were so glad we went for it and such an interesting tour. We were taken through the most amazing limestone caves - 3 kilometres and 500 steps (said the guide)- up and down, over bridges, along walkways, passed pools and waterfalls. Very very Tolkien-esque.
No photos allowed inside so just a picture here of the big sink hole where the cave entrance is. The hole was formed when the roof of another big cave collapsed in -many moons ago.
Outside we went for a walk round the area which gave great views in to the sinkhole.
A great visit which surprised us both.
