Better than One

We are excited that Sarah is visiting (albeit very briefly) this weekend. My plan was to pick her up at the station in Dumfries this afternoon, but to spend more time with her, I decided to go to Carlisle by train, spend the morning there, and return home with her.

I also had wanted to visit Tullie House museum to see the latest news from the archeological dig at Stanwix. In 2017, a Roman bathouse was uncovered at the cricket ground with all kinds of objects, , and in May this year, two large heads were found which are now being displayed in the museum. The dig is amazing as it has involved the local community as well as professional archaeologists. Just before 1, I was at the station to surprise Sarah. To make it even more special, the Border Concert Band were playing on the platform and the Flying Scotsman arrived! (Extra).

After a brief hour at home (Jess was very excited!!), Sarah and D left to drive to Kendal for the 2023 Bob Graham Reunion Dinner.

Jess and I have had a peaceful evening in and look forward to S and D returning tomorrow for more fun :-)
