Spookybooky

A while ago Squatbetty had the idea of a Blip book club. I have been remiss and only taken part irregularly. October’s prompt is Spookybooky - of course - and I couldn’t think of anything better than Winnie the Witch by Korky Paul and Valerie Thomas.

Winnie has a problem as her house, and everything in it, is black. Her beloved cat Wilbur is also black. She keeps tripping over him as she can’t see him on the floor, and anyone with a cat will know how they like to get under your feet. One day she loses patience, and uses her wand and her skills to turn him rainbow coloured. He is so unhappy and embarrassed  he stays hidden at the top of a tall tree, and won’t eat. Eventually she realises how unkind she was to her dear cat, and instead makes her house rainbow coloured, and changes Wilbur back to black. Everyone is happy in the end. See extra.
It was one of my son’s favourites - and I’m very pleased with children’s books which have kindness to animals as their message
