The Real Slim Shady
Now here’s a spooky coincidence - almost exactly three years ago, I blipped about my new 32” waist jeans and how pleased I was that I had got down to that size. Well, those jeans have been feeling bigger and looser of late and I thought it was, perhaps, time to drop a size. But when I looked in M&S for 30” waist versions of what I’ve bought previously, I was told that “regular” jeans are not made in that size, and are only available as “slim fit”. I don’t think any of my clothes have ever been described as “slim fit”, but I reckoned I’d got nothing to lose by trying them on.
And they fitted perfectly (though the stretch fabric is still doing a lot of the heavy lifting) so I bought replacements for all my existing jeans, which have now gone to the charity shop. Along with most of the remainder of the contents of my wardrobe. In a fit of trying things on, I found that all my “smart” trousers are way too big and could actually be taken off without undoing them! And shirts that I hadn’t worn for some time, but thought were ok, proved to be like wearing a circus tent.
It looks like a further shopping spree is required to buy some better fitting “smart” clothing. And I need to get it done by the end of the month if I want to buy from M&S, as Mrs C’s leavers discount card (20% off!) expires then.
It looks like the gym visits and more sensible eating are continuing to pay dividends. Watch this space in three years time (or sooner??) for pictures of clothing in an even smaller size.
