If I Had A Hammer
On September 10th I blipped the dead dishwasher. On October 5th I blipped about the newly delivered replacement dishwasher. And today, I can proudly show off the new dishwasher nearing the end of its installation. But it’s taken me two days to do it as it was not easy getting it all lined up. Due to different feet positions on this model, I had to chisel a chunk off one of the floor tiles so I could get everything to sit properly. But, after a lot of hammering, jiggling (and swearing!) I finally had it all secure and, as near as makes no odds, lined up with the surrounding units.
Day two - today - was all about connecting the hoses and the plug. Now, when the kitchen was originally done, the dishwasher was installed before the granite worktop went on, so it was very easy to thread the various pipes and cables through the small holes in the back of the unit. As removing the worktop was not an option this time, I had to drop string through the holes, grovel under the units to grab the end, tie it to the relevant hose and then pull/guide it back through the hole and attach to the relevant outlet.
It actually went more smoothly than I thought it might and, after a final check that all connections were tight, I ran a programme. It all worked, the dishes were clean and there were no visible signs of any leaks. But I’m not going to refit the kick boards until I get home after tonight’s Panto rehearsal and can do one final check for any leaks. No point in tempting fate…
