We had an early start as BB was playing rugby in Edinburgh, in the shadow of Murrayfield no less. Winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves had to be found before we departed. We dropped BB off and went for a walk along the Water of Leith to Stockbridge, then re-traced our steps to the rugby. We used to live in this area many years ago, and it was a walk down memory lane, as we used to walk along the Water of Leith very regularly. Roseburn Park has also had a makeover, with a lovely new café, which we gave some custom. Our boys had a great game. BB scored four tries and was buzzing after the match. It was a lovely sunny day, but there was a very cold wind from the Arctic to contend with. The spectators were all wind blasted.
We made a quick getaway after the game and headed up to Carnoustie for a birthday party. We were late and then we had to leave sharpish, but we had a lovely time catching up with everyone, over some lovely food and a few glasses of prosecco (TT was driving!). We left rather later than we should have done and had to zoom back down to Edinburgh as we had tickets to see Lloyd Cole at the Usher Hall. He’s one of my favourites and he was amazing. I’ve seen him perform many times, but not for a long time. TT and I both thoroughly enjoyed tonight’s concert.
Poor BB had had to get the bus back home from Edinburgh. He was having a lads night at a friend’s house. He managed to get back in time for the second half of the rugby. He got home not long after we had gone to bed, and he came upstairs to have a chat, which was quite nice, except I was exhausted and feely rather achy – probably related to my flu jag yesterday.
This Antony Gormley statue stands in the Water of Leith. The extras are the rugby team (BB is number 15) and a rather ghostly Lloyd Cole (and two Commotions).
