Left a bit....bit more....and FIRE!
A better day than yesterday weather wise, but a few heavy showers which we largely avoided. We drove over to Kingswear where we got the ferry over to Dartmouth for a wander around. I took a shot of the ferry which is the first extra, and the main shot is of an old cannon pointing straight out to sea. I'm sure the yachtsman would be pleased to know it wasn't loaded.
After getting back on the ferry to Kingswear we drove to Coleton Fishacre, the weekend home of the D'Oyly Carte family, who were the impresarios behind Gilbert and Sullivan and the Savoy Hotel. Built in the 1920's it is a beautiful art deco house in superb gardens which lead down to the sea. Apparently, the D'Oyly Carte's picked the site from the sea, after sailing past in their yacht. A view of the front of the house in the second extra; it is built in a vaguely three pointed star shape.
Back at the B&B and we've been out for a couple of drinks and brought back fish and chips. Now to relax.
