I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day

Well, in Kendal, it’s looking like it could be. I’ll (just about) forgive the shop “Christmas & More” as they do, at least, acknowledge other events - Halloween at the moment - during the year. But, as their sign clearly states, there are still 64 days to go until Christmas. So why oh why have Kendal Town Council seen fit to put up all the town’s Christmas lights so early? They’ve actually been up for a couple of weeks now - not quite as early as Christmas stuff started appearing on supermarket shelves, but as near as makes no odds.
I would also point out that it’s still British Summer Time for another week. I know I prefer to holiday later in the year, but it’s still quite depressing to get back from a holiday in the sun and see that the U.K. has gone from “summer” to “Christmas” in the week you’ve been away!
Well, I’m going to do my best to ignore it for at least the next 60 days. Might be difficult though. Our next door neighbours’ daughter is visiting from Australia in November and they want her to have “Christmas” with them. So their house is fully decorated and the tree is up. Something we see every time we open the blinds in the morning. Sigh.
Just call me Scrooge…
