Time moves on

The watch lies a short distance from the young man's body. Cracked and scuffed, it seems to have been thrown clear - in what we have to assume was quite an impact.

The young man's eyelids flicker for a moment, and he makes a sound that might be "Jen" ... or might in fact be anything, it's so indistinct.

His fingers twitch - so subtly, it's barely visible - and then he doesn't move again.

Remarkably, in spite of all that's happened, the battered watch continues on its measured way into the future.

The young man, unfortunately, does not.
