Rain coming
Day 2 of our Tuscan holiday.
I got up at about sunrise time, 7 am, and went for a little walk on the walls of Pienza before heading out on a drive. Grey weather, so not the best photos of the holiday or even the day. Back for breakfast before driving off again, this time with Triinu.
The first extra is from our first stop west of San Quirico d'Orcia. Still dull light and my photos of the famous cypress grove didn't turn out that good, but the ridge on the opposite side of the highway looked quite nice.
Next stop for a walk in Montalcino, eating a delicious pizza lunch and buying some of the local wine. A view from a small street in the extra #2.
After a stop at the Sant'Antimo abbey, we drove via Monte Amiata railway station towards Castiglione d'Orcia and noticed a rain front approaching from the west. We were lucky enough to come to a hilltop with a great view, when the clouds, the rain and the light were at best. The heavy rain passed us by and we stopped in the town and watched the play of light and rain continue towards northeast (extra #3).
After driving back to Pienza through the valley in the middle of another heavy shower, we had another great dinner and a walk in the town after the rain.
