The Parthenon and Acropolis Hill

Breakfast was ok, coffee was good. None of it was as good as we had in Rome but it will do.

We left to be at the Parthenon by 9am, not as hard a walk as I anticipated. We used a free download audio guide from Rick Stevens. It was good, it meant we knew what we were looking at and could move at our own pace. Unfortunately we missed the opportunity to visit the slopes of the Acropolis and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus as we missed the very poorly signed steps and thought the entrance was separate. It wasn't and they would not let us back in. We weren't the only group who were in the same position so I would say the Greek signage has not improved in the last thirty years!

We stopped in the shadow of the Acropolis for refreshment and food for Will (I am embarrassed to say which establishment but when with Will needs must).

Then on to the Temple of Zeus, then further to the ancient Olympic Stadium. We walked back through the park looking at the terrapins and ended up outside the Parliament building. Somehow we lucked out on the time and we witnessed changing of the guard.

Back towards the hotel for lunch and then a siesta.

In the evening we wandered around Plaka and the area just below the Acropolis before stopping to eat. Will wasn't impressed with his meal but they both enjoyed the bubble waffle ice cream.
