Sunbathing

I saw these two in a tree across the road enjoying the early morning sun. They remained there for almost fifteen minutes, stretching their wings and legs, thawing from the overnight chill • Mr. Bluebird and Ms. House Finch • The wind made for a brisk day so I bundled up to trim the remaining perennials in the garden. The lavender was still green with flowers but there are no bees left to enjoy them. Everything else a crispy brown from repeated frosts. The pansies are gone now too, leaving only a pot of white mums. We’re hoping they hang on until Thanksgiving • Music, puzzling and drinks are on the pre-dinner menu • Happy Saturday Night!
