New growth
When the builders were preparing for putting in the new retaining wall they took out earth including clay, trees and Ponga. One of the Ponga which had to be moved is the one shown in today's blip. As can be seen, it was well-established. We were advised by the Ladies who Lawn (who planted a number of trees and replanted a number of Ponga) that about half of replanted mature Ponga survive. We were told to cut off all the dried fronds; in this instance that was every frond.
Today, on the top of the trunk, in the growing area of the Ponga, is a new frond in the shape of Koru. It is pushing up and out, and with luck will be the first of many new fronds.
Worked on the garden and tidying up builders' messes after lunch. Later went for a walk through local streets, and in Ngaio Road saw a healthy foxglove flower spike. An extra for today.
