South Wheal Frances

Years ago, we stumbled across this site on a cycle ride with the DSs but I have singulalry failed to find it again until today. An extensive set of ruins that almost have an ecclesiatical feel to them - a cathedral to the gods of ore perhaps. the whole area is riddled with ruins associated with the tin and copper mine workings, an industry that made the Basset family very rich. Somewhere back about 1570, there is a Hannibal Basset of this family appearing in our family tree but unfortunately not an oldest son.
