Trixie's Adventures

Happy Human!

After all the trauma of yesterday, my human is happy today. Yay!! If my human is happy, then I am happy. We really are in sync with each other and if one of us is unhappy, then the other is too.

Long story short............... I had a 'first thing in the morning' trek around the streets for 45 mins. Called into 'Kwik Fit' on the way back home to make sure that it was OK for a recovery truck to drop our car into the garage later on. Kwik Fit is literally just round the corner from us.  It officially opens at 8.30am, but at 8.15am, we were 4th in the queue?!

Then Ann phoned our breakdown people again. After explaining the whole situation again. why can't they just read all the notes they should have on their database?, we were told that a recovery truck would be with us between 30-120mins, but we'd get a more up-to-date ETA from the driver. It was 8.45am by this time, so Ann went a bit mad. She said, (in a very nice calm voice), 'I broke down yesterday and phoned you at 11.45am. If it takes four and a half hours to come out to me like it did yesterday, then that's way over 24hrs and I've actually paid for GOLD membership.' Real live person was very nice and said she'd get a more accurate ETA soon. What could she do? Grrrrr..........

Long story short, again....................... text came through 10 mins later saying that the ETA for the recovery truck to get to us was 10.14am. And then at about 9.05am, recovery truck driver phoned and said that if were a flat battery he could supply & fit that there and then for £119.95 and he'd be with us within half an hour. Ann thought she might be getting ripped off so she Goggled, 'how much does a battery cost?

Long story short, yet again..................... he arrived about 10am, ie half an hour after he said he would (& because it was a start & stop battery it was £209) but at least he fitted it and the car is all up and running again now. At least we hope it is. We haven't actually had time to go out in the car today.

After that, my human was 'on a roll' of getting things done. She's been trying to phone the 'DWP' since January to pay a couple of years voluntary contributions to her pension to ensure that she gets the full amount. She has phoned them, something like 65 times, and each time she's 'held on' for 45 mins, listening to ridiculous messages saying, 'your call is important to us', and then after 45 mins, she gets a message saying, 'You may like to call back later', and then she gets cut off. Ann's friend, S, is 66 in the next few months, and she got a letter telling her about voluntary NI contributions. It included a phone number, dedicated to anyone who wanted to make voluntary NI contributions. Obviously she gave it to my human, who phoned it and within 11 mins (including the listening to crap music & 'your call is important to us' messages), she had spoken to a real live person who gave her the acc details and a reference no. to pay her voluntary contributions into. Yay! If anyone wants the number, let us know!  Obviously my human is still a 'spring chicken' but she is due to get her state pension in March 2025. If she lives for three years after that, it will have been worth paying the AVCs. If she doesn't.................. then I guess she won't care?!

Anyway, after that, Ann was so happy, that she took me for an 'extra' walk to celebrate. Just look how happy and bouncy I am? I didn't find any manky old balls on my walk today but I had just fun just bouncing around and playing in the burn.

After that Ann went to the hairdressers to be turned into a 'blonde beach babe' (we'll put a photo in extras) and then I got another trek around the streets.

…................And that's been our day. Loads more productive than yesterday. Yay!!!
