Feline Pilates

Don't worry, no cats were harmed in the  production of this Blip!
I was returning from Pilates class today when I was ambushed by Lucky, the three -legged cat, who then proceeded to demonstrate a few feline Pilates exercises.

This afternoon I baked the Christmas cake.
This evening we attended a very interesting talk on Zoom given by two members of staff from Plantlife, entitled, "Stories Lichens Tell Us".  Some lichens must have clean air to grow, and their presence indicates the atmosphere is low in toxic nitrogen oxide or ammonia. However, others  such as the  yellow Xanthoria parietina  (Maritime Sunburst) are very pollution tolerant, and their  presence in towns is indicative of toxic car exhausts and in the countryside of fertilizer drift, when found growing  on twigs overhanging  field edges.
There are lichens which have survived being sent into to space on the outside of space ships, while others  are truly aquatic in rivers and others sea salt tolerant. They are definitely worth a closer look!
