2023 Wednesday — Channel Islands
Between Santa Barbara and Ventura on Highway 101, we have a good view of the Channel Islands.
We exited Cayucos at 7:00 a.m. in the rain. The journey would be a minimum 4-hour drive to get to our destination. We stopped twice: first in Buellton at the McDonald’s to use their facilities and to purchase an order of scrambled eggs for each of us and down the street at the Mobil Gas station to top our tank.
We drove another hour-plus and stopped at the McD’s on Wendy Drive in the city of Newbury Park. It’s another place to use the facilities and to change positions in the car. I became the driver and drove us the 90+ minutes to reach our destination. We got into a bit of slow traffic in San Fernando Valley and we reached our destination at noon. The stopwatch recorded that our driving time was approximately 4 1/2 hours, which is about 30 minutes longer than usual. The overall trip was five hours.
We were glad to be off the road. We’ll be in SoCal one week (as far as we know) so he can do lab work. Saturday we are invited to the annual Christmas party presented by our financial advisor. We both have medical appointments this coming Monday and Tuesday. Then we will head north.
From Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
