In the Basilica at Reggio di Calabria .....

In Acts 28 there is a description of St Paul's journey to Rome....

12And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days. 13And from there we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium:

So here we are on modern day Rhegium. This pillar has an ancient tradition attached to it. When Paul landed there was a riotous party going on.... What's new.....and they didn't want to listen to him. The deal was that a candle was lit on a stone column, and Paul was allowed to preach while the candle burned. But when the candle burned down the stone pillar began to burn too - and this is the remnant. So Paul preached on and thousands were converted. It's a beautiful Basilica.
