Tea, Books and Gingerbread

A blanket of snow this morning (extra) that melted by the end of the day and an afternoon outing to Tea and Books at my friend Sandy''s library in a town north of here.

Tea and Books has become a regular outing for me and my fellow book clubbers. Every second month, the two librarians up there select 5 or 6 books they personally like and present them to a gathering of avid readers...It really is a fun way to get some ideas for what to read next, and each time, we find a couple books that would be good for our book club.

And as a bonus, the December gathering always coincides with the library's special Christmas gingerbread house exhibit - a whole room full of gingerbread houses all set up in village settings with some of the houses representing actual buildings in the town..

A full day...and a new list of books to read! The six they recommended this month are:

Dandelion,  by Jamie Chai Yum Lieu
Mrs. Porter Calling,  by A.J. Pearce
Yellowface,  by R.F. Kuang
On the Ravine,  by Vincent Lam
Study For Obedience,  by Sarah Bernstein
Cassandra in Reverse, by Holly Smale
