Sightseeing … on foot
We all slept in until 8am this morning then sat and chatted over breakfast and coffee for about three hours. We’ve got a lot to catch up on as we haven’t seen one another since October last year. Breakfast over, we walked to the Oamaru Public Gardens, where we were greeted by Christmas music coming from the band rotunda. There were only three musicians and two spectators, but it was pleasant to hear the music floating through the gardens.
After admiring the gardens we walked along to the basilica to show our friends how large it is. We went inside for a quick peak as the door was open. The dimensions are very grand but it’s not ornate. They were preparing for a Christmas Carols Concert.
We then walked along the main street to the Harbour Precinct where we had a light lunch and another coffee, and chatted lots more. After lunch we walked out to the end of the wharf and then back home. We’ve done quite a lot of walking today.
As we were having breakfast I saw a big “ball” just outside the dining room. When I investigated I discovered that it was a big ball of fungi, with some more fungi underneath a plant alongside.
