Robin

It was my little brother’s funeral today and the heavens opened and wept with us for most of the day.
Four of us made the journey down to Wiltshire on the first flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow to Bristol this morning and then travelled onwards by car, meeting up with his family at the Crematorium.
It was a beautiful service by a humanist celebrant reflecting Robin’s Scottish roots while being firmly embedded in life in the South West.
He was a very popular, sociable person and there was an enormous contingent of golfers from the Golf Course where he had been Captain at one point.

We all repaired to the Club house for drinks and sandwiches afterwards with just enough time to meet my 3 nieces and all his 8 grandchildren 3 of whom had flown in from New Zealand with their Mum. It was also good to meet some of my sister in law’s friends before we had to drive back to Bristol Airport.

We left Edinburgh in heavy rain and we drove back to Bristol in equally heavy rain. It felt like the heavens were crying along with us.
