Wound up in Wexford

John Barry

We had a meeting with our solicitor in Enniscorthy this morning, where it turned out that an email sent by us more than a week ago had been misplaced due to some secretarial changes.  We have to go back on Friday, when we will hopefully finally sign our wills!

Then down to Wexford, where we visited TKMAXX, and found one suitcase that worked for us.  On to various other shops to pick up some other items.  And afterwards, a meal at Whitford House Hotel.  We first ate at this hotel some years ago, when travelling to Ireland for house hunting.  It's become quite a favourite - there are clearly many regulars, who are greeted by the staff by name, and with hugs.  And the food is pretty good.

The photo is a statue of John Barry - born in County Wexford, and credited (by some) as "the Father of the US Navy".  The internet - taken with care and consideration - can be wonderfully informative.  Reading about John Barry was the first time I came across the mention of Yola - the language widely spoken in parts of County Wexford when he was born.

I've chosen this photo, even though it's not the best view of the statue, because it shows the lovely blue sky we enjoyed today.
