White Rhino in Mokala
Off to Mokala: Tootled around Colesberg looking to stock up for our next National Park stay without much success before finding decent meat in a farm shop, deciding on a couple of dinner dishes and then hitting the road towards Mokala, a new park that opened in 2007 and another first for us, though K&L have been there a couple of times. Unfortunately the satnav sent us over a gravel road for the last 60k’s; we arrived all shook up!
Some good game-spotting again once we arrived in the park, including giraffe, buffalo and white rhino but similar to the previous parks, not as much bird sightings as I’d expected. Maybe a bad time of year? It’s certainly a good time for ants though - the camp ground was hooching with the wee, biting beasties (my toes are now full of formic acid) which meant we sadly had to eat a great chilli indoors but only after we’d seen a steady stream of animals heading to and from the local waterhole.
I’ve picked a few decent animal pics as Extras.
