After the party
Started the day at the dentist for a check up before a day of prep for a drinks party this evening. A few work calls, Paul T, Greg, Jill, some more necessary than others. But mainly we were taking advantage of the thing everyone says, use a party as a good excuse to do some tidying up.
Actually the house looked lovely, wth a fire burning, greenery and baubles up in the sitting room and even the manic tree looked quite nice, mainly because I chucked a lot more at it.
We’d asked 60 and 50 managed to get here. We’d set up for people to park at the farm but there was a flood and a steep muddy hill to negotiate so V bought 10 hurricane lamps from Mountain Warehouse (mercifully on sale) and lit the path. The neighbours were very impressed.
Anyway a lovely evening, we served hot punch and Prosecco with canapés. None of which I made. We of course hardly spoke to anyone but everyone seemed to find someone nice to talk to. They all left by 9 and we collapsed in a heap nibbling on Waitrose mince pies and finishing up the Prosecco. But not the punch which I hope will last for a while!
