Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

We had a lovely relaxing day. We all went out for a morning walk, and avoided the rain. It was positively MILD. Then we had breakfast - full on candles, twinkling lights Christmas piano music. And we had  my special request - French toast with fried bananas, cruispy bacon and honey. YUM YUM. And enough for tomorrow as well.

A relaxed day by the fire, opening Archie's presents. We weren't really doing presents, but I got a big warm throw, that's also an electric blanket! Wow. Ideal for my afternoons on the sofa. JR had a bracelet, but she's been wearing it for her Christmas functions, but I wrapped it up again. Then I got her real present - a new bag she has been admiring in JL when I was last in there with her. Hazel assisted in the purchase, the wrapping, and the hiding. So that was a wee surprise when I could eventually rescue it from the shed in the afternoon.

We had our lunch after the King's speech - the works: venison joint for a change, and all the usual delicious roasty veges, red cabbage, peas and gravy. We're in between courses, and about to start watching Maestro.

Archie got LOTS of presents from Elizabeth! And he had his last treat from the Advent calendar - it was the biggest one. Here he is, looking pretty pleased with himself, prior to gobbling it down. (EXTRA)

Christmas greetings to all blippers!
