Snowshoes again!

We walked the trail we created two days ago. By now it was very well consolidated and easy. Then Jan broke trail about the same distance as before, along the ridge, and I followed, tramping out the trail she'd created. We reached a copse with a good view over the valley below, our usual end point to this part of our trail. After that we tramped back, firming up the trail still more.
As long as we don't get a really heavy fall of snow this trail should remain visible and in good condition until the spring, and both ideal for, and familiar to, our next set of UK visitors!
Next stage is to tramp out a circular trail to the top of our local hill, then our local personal snowshoe trail will be complete!
The day was sunless with fairly thick cloud and this almost monochrome picture reflects the reality!
Note the three  "hats" / "collars"  on these fir trees. There were similar formations on many of the fir trees. I've never seen them before but it's interesting to see how different weather conditions create different snow formations, and try to figure out why?
In the evening Rose came out and we ate a delicious dinner that was almost non-christmassy. Roast chicken, trimmings and mash. Christmas returned for the dessert of mince pies and Christmas cake.
