Decomposing Whale
A gentle breeze, mostly cloudy with sunny spells, and thankfully dry all day. Fairly chilly.
A lazy morning, but finally got out walkies, along with everyone else in the village. Picked up friend Julie after lunch, we headed for a walk around Sound. Headed down to mam's this evening, niece Michaela popped by too. Off to bed early tonight.
After all the gales and rain, great to have a break in the weather, and enjoy walkies. A quick run along the beach, then a short coastal hike to the next beach. We glanced down to the rocky beach, a big white lump stood out. As we approached, we started to see it was a dead whale, looks of a Pilot Whale. With the state of decomposition, it's obviously been dead a long time, washed up with the recent gales. Sad to see, but a great food source for many, circle of life and all. Taken at Tarland Ayre, Sound, Lerwick.
