Diary of an Edinburgher

DAY THREE (Brisbane)

J went out for a walk round the neighbourhood this morning. But I just sat, having been awake for much of the wee early hours.

At midday, our friends came to collect us to go to the beach, or actually, a bay with vast mud flats. They have huge high tides, and one is expected (see the sign 'King Tide') and the houses across the road regularly get flooded.

The young fella came with us, mainly because he wanted to do some driving - he has to have logged hours with his father before he gets his licence proper.

We had a walk along the foreshore, admiring the public gas barbecue areas, which are maintained by the council. We loved them in Noosa. A huge meal of fish and chips was enjoyed, though I didn't actually eat much - not hungry.

Popped into a nice beachside pub on the way home,,and I tried an Aussie beer. Which I couldn't finish.

We've had loads of videos and photos from Derek, Archie's sitter. He's been back to the vet, and will go back again next week, just to make sure he's ok.

Right. 0.16 am. I'll go and try to sleep again...

PS There is no chance of me getting round to checking out what everyone’s up to…Apologies.
