Doune ponds

Another glorious day. While Islay went off with the dog walker I took advantage of her absence and walked up to the badger sett just outside Doune. Forestry work made it easier to find, only about 300 metres away from the harvesting/thinning operations I found substantive evidence of badger activity, even during torpor. Some of the entrances closest to the activity looked dormant. I can only assume that the official licence must have been obtained from NatureScot.

In between a visit to the Buttercup Cafe I sauntered around the partly frozen Doune Ponds.

I got back in the early afternoon to find the house empty. Islay returned quite late and persuaded me to give her a sausage from the fridge. She really isn’t the most intelligent of dogs but she sure knows how to manipulate me.

And after a quiet post Christmas and NY a double fixture tonight. A delightful Doune couple I met at Higham Hall had invited me to the village choir. Regrettably I had already committed to a Ramblers training session via Zoom which turned out to be underwhelming. Too late now to sing instead.
