Liftoff

With another snow to rain event starting tonight plus a holiday on Monday we decided to pick up a few things at the grocery store. We chatted with an employee who normally works at our local store but it’s been closed since December when the river flooded. She told us she got to look inside the building earlier this week and it was completely gutted; Construction is scheduled to start soon. Seeing the devastation almost brought her to tears. A tavern-restaurant on main street in Hallowell still has not reopened but new flooring was being installed this week. So many businesses suffering • After shopping and a stop at the post office we parked near the river to see what was swimming or flying about. The usual suspects did not disappoint: mergansers, seagulls, an eagle plus a few mallards • Happy Weekend to you!
