DAY SIX (Brisbane)
We set off down the river on the City Cat (and not on a Kitty Cat, which are the free cross river ferries). The City Cats ply up and down the river, and aren't actually free. But they seem to tolerate the odd tourist who doesn't know.
We sailed right round to the end, then back to Teneriffe where we had a bit of a walk to the hotel we were aiming for, the Calile. Sue had heard good things about it. There were some groovy Aussie cafes on the way, and we stopped in one for some delicious juices and a rest...
The Calile Hotel is one of the world's top hotels, they claim. We went to the Greek restaurant, which was by the pool with all the beautiful people lounging around being waited on by a vast team of staff. Actually, that whole area 'Fortitude Valley' is famous for groovy restaurants.
My two fit companions were always intending to walk back to the hotel, but I just couldn't. It wasn't far, but it did reach 33°!! I got an Uber home, popped into the cafe by the hotel and had an ice cream. Then I availed myself of the washing machine and the drier to catch up on a week's washing, and had a rest.
Later, we popped up to sit on Sue's 42nd floor balcony, with fantastic views.
