Diary of an Edinburgher

DAY THIRTEEN (Sydney)

It'll come as no surprise, but was another brilliant, treat filled day!JR went to the gym, Gill did yoga online, I had my meusli out on the back deck listening to the strange (as in, unaccustomed) bird song.

Gill wanted to take us to an art gallery in Redfern. We got a bit lost, but it was fun being driven round all the busy streets. Gill can always find a park!

The White Rabbit Gallery features contemporary Chinese artists and it was very interesting. In each room were young folk, there to chat, enthuse, inform and, in places, to encourage people to actually touch things.

From there we walked around a couple of streets, past a wee park (the grass is unusually GREEN in Sydney this summer) and walked through 'Spice Alley' - dozens of wee shop fronts serving all sorts of delicious food. And we chose a good one, Thai, where we could sit inside. Several deliciously different items were chosen, and they were all SO tasty.

From there Gill drove us more into town, where we could hop on the tram, which took us down to Circular Quay. An ice cream and sitting in the shade was necessary, watching all the folk go by.

Thus fortified, we walked to the Rocks. We've been there several times before, but I was flagging by this time, so JR sat me down in a cafe with a cold drink, and popped off round the market stalls and shops.

Thoughts of also going to the MCA were abandoned - another day - and we went to the wharf to catch a ferry back. And what would you know - it was just coming in! (the ferries are turned around in minutes). Off the ferry, and there was the bus to take us up the hill to very nearly home. Who needs the Sydney Transport App...

The other two fit ladies took a walk down to the nearby Dawn Fraser Baths, which was down hill with lots of steps, and therefore very uphill on the way back, so I declined the invitation, though I'd love to see the baths.

After tea, another episode of Season Two of `Mister Dogs' - this time it's Border Collies. Irresistable. And so are the people.
