It was a frightening night with the sound of things banging around outside and slates rattling on the roof. Plant pots had been thrown around and the lawn was littered with twigs and now we need the third call out to the roofer since the new year. The huge tree across the old farm yard has lost half of its branches which are now completely blocking the lane so that not even a tiny dog could get through meaning dog walkers will have to change their route. Fortunately it is used only by the post van and the bin lorry to serve the old farmhouse and two farm cottages but will be a major problem for collecting the bins although the post van can get through the gap at the side of our house. However we have not been affected much by the storm unlike those suffering major damage and trees blocking their routes with transport disruptions and floods.
The picture shows the tree this morning and at dawn in January two years ago.
