Diary of an Edinburgher

DAY FIFTEEN (Sydney)

It was COOL and raining this morning! Funny how 23° feels cool to me here. Mind you, they still have all the air con on full blast on buses, ferries and art galleries. In fact, I was very glad I brought my new scarf with me. And I didn't sit outside on the ferry going into town, though by the time we came back, it had warmed up.

Lynette, a school, and teachers’ college, friend  of JR's, came over from NZ to meet up with us. We've seen her off and on over the years, and her son lives here now, so she comes quite often. But not usually in January, when it's too hot and humid. But it;s neither this time.

We dandered down to Charlotte's when the rain stopped, and then decided to go into town and visit the MCA which we didn't manage yesterday. Bus down to the ferry, ferry to Circular Quay. We strolled along to the gallery - not as HOT as it was the other day we passed it, BUT... it was CLOSED on Tuesdays!!

No worries - we went to a nearby pub/cafe with outdoor seating and umbrellas, and had a very good lunch of prawns, fish and chips. And bubbly to celebrate.

Back home, Gill back from work, and the girls reminisced about old times, mentioning this person and that person, and often - too often - the person had died... Our friend in NZ who couldn't come over, face timed us.

JR made a delicious meal, the photograph album came out with all the 70s wedding photos - what a hoot! Then Lynette's son came to collect her.

A super relaxing day. Last day in Sydney tomorrow, but a special treat planned.
