Wassailing!

Here we are in the community gardens at Windmill hill city farm. The apple trees are all espaliered, and can be seen behind us. We are singing the Gower Wassail song, which is very jolly. And banging saucepans so loudly which scares away not only all the evil spirits away from the trees, but also several small children who are visiting with their parents. No cider was drunk, though I understand that is traditional. It was such fun - the teacher is on the left in a yellow jacket, and there’s about 12 of us altogether. Afterwards there are THREE cakes, two ginger ( the song mentions ginger and nutmeg cake) and one apple. All delish. My ginger cake was good, but look (in extra) at the decoration on the other one!
