Corydalis maracandica
Growing from a corky tuber this is a dryland species from Central Asia where it grows in high mountains. They are quite rare in cultivation, my tuber came from a small nursery who raise plants from their own home produced seed. It's a labour of love as the flowers need hand pollinating and the seedlings take a few years to reach flowering size. The flowers start opening almost as soon as the shoots break the surface, the flowering stems extending to six inches or a little more. This type of corydalis need a dryish summer rest so I grow mine in pots under cold glass.
A quiet day at home apart from the regulation dog walk. I attended a zoom presentation about the new Talyllyn Railway rule book this afternoon, fettled the pots a little and will now clean up some plant pots ready for the achimenes and their relatives which I hope to pot up in the next couple of days.
