Dover Eastern Docks and Harbour
It’s been a good few years since we last walked along the White Cliffs at Dover from the National Trust carpark at Langdon Point to St Margaret’s Bay and back
I don’t think we’ve been here since before the pandemic and may be quite a few years before that too. Probably not as far back as 2013 which was when the photo on my blip account was taken at the NT cafe.
Since our last walk along the cliff tops a new path has been laid as far as the South Foreland lighthouse with people being encouraged to stay on the new path rather than wander along the myriad of paths that cross cross the chalk downlands.
Commanding views of the Straits of Dover with France just being visible on the hazy horizon. It was easier to see the French coast as dusk as the lights of Calais stood out.
A cool breeze accompanied the whole trip. It was a delight to walk there again after so long.
I was hoping the sunset would be spectacular today. It was good but nothing extraordinary. The port was its usual hive of activity with ferries coming and going very frequently. I’m wondering what an “Irish Ferries” vessel is doing operating out of Dover?
